About

Mingyu Zhu is a Research Associate in the Urban Big Data Centre (UBDC), at the University of Glasgow. At  UBDC, Mingyu works on various projects focusing on urban building energy modelling and associated environmental, social, and economic impact.

Mingyu holds a PhD in Urban Digital Twin from the EPSRC Geospatial CDT at the Newcastle University. His work was funded by the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl).

Mingyu is an architect outside academia and received an M.Arch from the Architectural Association and worked on a wide range of projects.

Research

Much of Mingyu’s work include the design, construction, and management of the urban built environment, with a focus on GeoBIM, Model-Based System Engineering, and HCI using VR.

Mingyu is particularly enthusiastic about cross-disciplinary collaborations that bridge engineering, social science, and art & design.
